I have been a practicing Massage Therapist since 2007. I retired from nursing after 21 years back in 2018.
Taking time for oneself may seem selfish, but I believe getting a massage is essential to emotional and physical health. It takes wisdom to take care of your body before it becomes run down or exhausted. Massage can benefit people who want to relieve stress. Everyone needs a massage, in my opinion. I find clients living a better life by getting a monthly, bi-monthly or weekly massage. When new clients come into my office, I get joy by opening them up to the benefits of massage. I enjoy reminding clients what it feels like to be relaxed or virtually pain free.
Massage and bodywork can help release chronic muscular tension and pain, improve circulation, increase joint flexibility, reduce mental and physical fatigue and stress, promote faster healing of injured muscular tissue, improve posture, and reduce blood pressure.
A little bit about myself. I grew up in Putnam County, went to college, moved out of the country to Malaysia, and eventually landed on the west coast in Seattle. It was while in Seattle where I first felt the desire to become a massage therapist. I am blessed with two children; one out of college and the other still in school. I come from a large family and I enjoy getting together with them as often as I can.
I enjoy reading fiction, hiking trails, biking across Putnam county, swimming, yoga, and walking around the campus of Depauw. I also have a passion for participating in triathlons too. I have even organized one in Greencastle for 3 years.
Self awareness is one goal when giving a massage. My joy comes from helping others. I love working with different problems and conditions. Whether it is a chronic condition, new pain or tightness. My basic goal is to help the body heal itself and to increase health and well-being. Helping clients meet their goals is an important part of my practice. I want a person to reschedule their next massage because their body feels so good. Again, taking time for yourself to rejuvenate your body is not selfish.
